Lots of people ask about my travel reads. I am a voracious reader (mostly audiobooks) and love to read about the locations I visit.  I’ve always enjoyed history and historical fiction but reading about locations prior to a trip kind of started by accident.  When planning my trip to Italy, I happened to read a historical fiction about Cleopatra.  A large portion of the book takes place in Rome.  Upon arriving in Rome, I actually recognized the names and locations throughout the city and realized having a story, to go with the location, made it more enjoyable.

Later that year, when traveling to the Dominican Republic, I was reading a book that had several chapters based in Hispanola.  My reading choices were a sheer coincidence but it gave me an idea.  For my next big trip to Prague, Vienna, and Budapest I read a series on Empress Elizabeth, which I loved.  It was amazing to be in the palaces and see the rooms she lived in; to recognize the places she talked about.  Overall, it made my time spent there much more memorable.  Since then, I make it a point to find either history or historical fiction before taking a trip.  This page will be dedicated to listing my travel reads for you.
